The Ile de Ré is across from La Rochelle. This island embraced by the Atlantic Ocean has a pleasant microclimate throughout the year.

Its capital, with its historic Saint-Martin de Ré Citadel, is now a village of unmatched charm. The village is centred around its port and protected by fortifications designed by Vauban.
